Liverpool star Thiago Alcantara has heaped praise on fellow midfielder Fabinho after his efforts in last night’s 2-0 win over RB Leipzig in Budapest.
The Reds midfielder was speaking to the club’s official website in the aftermath of the morale-boosting victory.
The 27-year-old was deployed in his usual midfield position having spent most of the season deputising as a makeshift centre-back.

Jurgen Klopp’s decision meant that Thiago could operate further forward and it’s a position he enjoys playing in.
He told the club’s official website: “For sure, because you are always near the goal, you can create chances and you can score. So it’s a nice position as well.
“You can split it up a bit and move some lines forward and you can be more confident to play with the strikers.
“Fabinho is a great player. He gives us a lot of confidence on our backs and it’s awesome to play alongside him.”
Liverpool’s win last night was a badly-needed one. The Reds have lost six games on the trot at Anfield and confidence has drained from the team.
The performance of the team and the tweaks made will certainly give Klopp some food for thought ahead of Monday’s game with Wolves.
TBR View: Klopp must leave Fabinho in midfield
It’s not just Liverpool’s defence that has been decimated this season but their midfield too.
Fabinho and Jordan Henderson have been forced to play at centre-back for a large amount of time this season and that has proved counter-productive.

The £100,000-a-week warrior was in fine form last night and it should offer Klopp a reminder of what his team has been missing.
Fabinho is integral to the Liverpool team but he is far more productive in midfield and that’s where he should remain for the remainder of 2020/21.
