‘They’ve got there’: Jamie O’Hara now says Arsenal have a £150m player in their squad, Spurs are jealous
TalkSPORT pundit Jamie O’Hara has now said that Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka is a £150m player.
Spurs fell to a 2-0 home defeat to Aston Villa yesterday, and put in a pretty abject performance.
After the match, Antonio Conte insisted work needed to be done in the transfer market to get Tottenham’s squad up to scratch.
Across north London, Mikel Arteta has built a young Arsenal side who are now genuine title contenders.
They extended their gap at the top of the Premier League to seven points with a fantastic victory over Brighton.
The moods at both clubs couldn’t be more different right now, as the next North London derby approaches.
O’Hara was unimpressed with Conte’s comments, and wondered why he wasn’t looking to the Spurs academy for more answers.
He talked about the stars that other top Premier League sides are currently producing, such as Saka and Emile Smith Rowe.
Saka is a £150m player – O’Hara
O’Hara spoke on TalkSPORT about the struggles Tottenham are currently experiencing in their squad, saying: “Where’s the young players coming through [at Tottenham]? Where’s our Saka, where’s our [Phil] Foden, where’s Tottenham’s [Marcus] Rashford?
“I mean, we talk about spending money, but hold on a minute, where’s the academy?
“Tottenham is meant to have one of the best academies in the world.
“It’s fantastic, brilliant coaches, where are those players?
“Where’s the player saving us £150m, Arsenal have got Saka, Smith Rowe.
“Arsenal have brought through Saka, there’s a £150m player that they’ve got there, that’s they’ve produced for nothing.
“The last player they brought through was Harry Winks and Oliver Skipp. Harry Kane’s the only one who’s been a star, he’s 29.”
Young players have struggled for minutes at Spurs this season, although yesterday was an exception.
Bryan Gil made his first league start of the season, although he looks set to leave on loan this month.
Pape Matar Sarr also finally made his debut for Spurs, while Djed Spence was given another short cameo from the bench.
None of Tottenham’s young players are at the same level as Saka though, and certainly wouldn’t be worth £150m like O’Hara suggests.
The 21-year-old is having an incredible season, and had another brilliant game against Brighton on Saturday.
He’ll be hoping he can help his side do the league double over Tottenham when they face each other in less than two weeks’ time.
