Newcastle United have struck an agreement over Watford ace Joao Pedro, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer insider also told the Here We Go podcast that the Magpies are now working to get the deal done.

Speculation regarding Newcastle and Pedro has intensified in recent days.

Yesterday, Romano took to Twitter to declare “here we go” on Pedro to Newcastle.

However, there have been other reports since then, suggesting the Magpies aren’t over the line just yet.

Sky Sports claimed this afternoon that Newcastle had submitted an offer and Watford were considering it.

Their report claimed the Magpies had offered a fee in the region of £30million including add-ons.

In addition, Everton have reportedly joined the race for Pedro too.

But in the latest episode of the Here We Go podcast, Romano reiterated that Newcastle have an agreement in place “since yesterday”.

“Newcastle are working to sign Joao Pedro from Watford,” Romano said on today’s show (11 minutes in).

“They have an agreement in place since yesterday and now they’re working to get it done with official contracts and everything.”

Newcastle seemingly heading in the right direction for Pedro

With conflicting reports doing the rounds, it remains to be seen what happens in the coming days.

Nonetheless, Newcastle certainly look like they’re making good progress towards Pedro.

And they’d be getting themselves a top talent in the 20-year-old.

Pedro joined Watford from Fluminense in 2019 and has made 78 appearances, including 31 in the Premier League.

He has 14 goals and five assists for the Hornets, and has contributed to their bright start this season.

Rob Edwards described his performance in their season-opener against Sheffield United as “incredible“.

Admittedly, Pedro hasn’t been particularly prolific for Watford.

However, he is still young, is getting better with each passing season, and his ceiling is very high.
