Football London’s Chis Wheatley has been speaking to Latte Firm on YouTube about how Charlie Patino is getting on in training at Arsenal.

What’s the story?

Well, the 17-year-old has been training with the first-team at London Colney for a while now, and looks set for a senior debut.

Wheatley believes Patino will almost certainly be named in Mikel Arteta’s squad for the Carabao Cup game against Wimbledon on Wednesday.

Additionally, the Football London journalist named two players who have been helping the teenager wonderkid at London Colney.

Wheatley said: “I know a lot of the players in the first-team are really impressed with him. I think Ben White has given him advice, Alexandre Lacazette has taken him aside & they’re really impressed with what they’re seeing & so is Mikel Arteta.”

That’s great to hear.

At 30 years of age, you’d expect Lacazette to be helping the younger players.

However, it’s especially great to see White – who is only 23 himself – lend his experience to Patino on the training ground.

Arsenal could help Charlie Patino even more

If – or when – Jack Wilshere comes back to London Colney to train, it should be a huge boost for Patino’s development.

The Arsenal No.87 has been described as the new Wilshere, so what better way to learn than watch the man himself up close?

The 29-year-old knows just what is needed to break into the first-team, and can also offer Patino advice on how to cope with the pressure once that has happened.

In our view, it would be fantastic for Patino to have someone like Wilshere in the same environment as him.

However, even if Wilshere doesn’t return to London Colney, it sounds like Patino has plenty of first-team stars already more than willing to help.
