'They're good': Victor Wanyama singles out two Tottenham players who he thinks are extremely 'dangerous'
Wanyama was part of Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs side that challenged for the Premier League title during the 2016-17 campaign.
The 31-year-old was a dominant force in central midfield and played in 36 out of 38 games in the league that year. But spells on the sideline due to recurring injuries hindered Wanyama’s progress before he eventually left on a free transfer in 2020.
But the now Montreal midfielder has admitted that he still watches his old side and has heaped praise on Son and Kane.
Wanyama on Son and Kane
The former Spurs man admitted that he has been watching his old side and was asked about Son and Kane’s lethal partnership.
“Son and Kane, they are experienced and have played for a long time in the Premier League,” he said.
“They are good players as well. They’re good scorers, they link up well.
“They’ll always be dangerous, so I’m not surprised to see them coming back to form as the season goes by.”
Wanyama played alongside both players during his spell in north London but the pair hadn’t quite struck up the deadly partnership they have right now.
Both Son and Kane were performing at an incredibly high-level under Pochettino but it was under former boss Jose Mourinho that their partnership really blossomed.
In the 2020-21 campaign they broke the Premier League record for most goal combinations in a single season as they combined 14 times.
Just last season, the duo broke the record for most goal combinations from a partnership in Premier League history – overtaking Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba.
There’s no doubt that Spurs rely heavily on the pair’s attacking output but Conte now has additional options in Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski to carry some of the burden.
