Oleksandr Zinchenko has issued his verdict on Arsenal youngsters Ethan Nwaneri, Lino Sousa and Reuell Walters, with the trio all in the squad to face PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Zinchenko was speaking in the pre-match press conference – in comments reported by the club’s official website – as the Gunners look to round off their group-stage campaign on a high.

With Arsenal already in the knockout stages and securing top spot in their group, Mikel Arteta has an opportunity to make a number of changes.

Nwaneri, of course, became the youngest player in Premier League history when he made his debut last season. Meanwhile, Sousa and Walters are amongst those knocking on the door at London Colney, awaiting their senior bows.

Obviously, there is a perfect opportunity to use them tonight. But Oleksandr Zinchenko has suggested that the trio absolutely deserve their chance if it comes against PSV.

“They’re amazing. all of them. I see them almost every day at the training ground, the way they train and the way they’re working, they definitely deserve this chance and hopefully we can see them very, very soon on the pitch,” he said.

“From my side, when I was younger and when someone was giving me any advice, I really appreciated it. All of us are different and we react to situations in different ways, someone maybe might think that if someone is trying to teach you then maybe he thinks that he’s above him or whatever, but I used to react to this kind of advice very positively because when someone gives you advice with more experience, it means that they’re paying attention and taking their time for you, so that’s why I’m always open for anyone who is younger than me or whatever.

“Even now being at 26, I’m not shy to ask for advice from Jorginho or some more experienced players.”

Perfect opportunity for Mikel Arteta to make changes

Of course, Arsenal would love to go into the knockout stages with another win under their belt. However, the priority has surely got to be coming through tonight’s game with none of their key players sustaining an injury.

With that, it would be wise to utilise Nwaneri, Sousa and Walters at some stage.

Certainly, Nwaneri will be one to watch given his five goals for the under-21s at the weekend. Arsenal are not looking brilliant up front this season. So he may feel there is a chance to send a message to Arteta in that different role.

Sousa meanwhile, may be looking to put a little pressure on Zinchenko. Unfortunately, the left-back position has been a weakness for Arsenal lately. So again, Arteta may not want to rule anything out while he tries to find a solution.
