Tottenham Hotspur are flying in the Premier League right now, so much so that they may just be a couple of January signings away from being potential champions.
Indeed, Tottenham’s squad is just a few additions away from being completed, and it sounds as though they’re going to look to make another astute addition in January.
According to Fabrizio Romano, speaking on the Men in Blazers Podcast, Spurs will try to do something in January reminiscent of the £50m move they made for Brennan Johnson on transfer deadline day.
Romano says that it won’t necessarily be a big name coming into Tottenham in January, more a smart signing that will help the squad and Ange Postecoglou in their quest for glory.

Spurs to look for a signing like Brennan Johnson
Romano shared what he knows about Spurs’ transfer plans.
“I think they will try to do something. With the same style they did with Brennan Johnson. So not super-big names, but something smart in January to help the squad and help the manager,” Romano said.
“Tottenham will look at the market in a smart way again, they’re very happy with the current situation, they don’t want to touch too much, but if they can find something smart as they did with Brennan Johnson then ok.”
Interesting
This is a very interesting strategy for Spurs to be taking up.
Johnson wasn’t necessarily the biggest name, but he was a fairly expensive young player who Spurs hope will have a high ceiling.
Finding players like this can be difficult, and sometimes they can be gambles that don’t pay off.
We like what we’ve seen from Johnson so far, but it’s hard to say he’s justified his £50m transfer fee just yet, but it seems like Spurs have adopted this policy of finding young stars who can help flesh out the squad.
