Newcastle United loanee Isaac Hayden has shared with the Athletic what he was told about Bruno Guimaraes before being replaced by him.
Hayden made the switch to Norwich City on a season-long loan deal over the summer after a lack of game time last season.
The 27-year-old was sidelined for the second-half of the campaign and only made 14 appearances for the Magpies in the Premier League last season.
The English midfielder’s lack of minutes wasn’t helped by the signing of Guimaraes. Now, Hayden has shared what he was told about the former Lyon man before he took his place in the side.

Speaking to the Athletic, Hayden joked: “They said my replacement is not a bad player so, you know.
“I can’t really complain. I wish them nothing but the best.”
Guimaraes has been a revelation for Eddie Howe’s side ever since making the switch from Lyon back in Janaury.
He has transformed the Magpies’ midfield, alongside a rejuvenated Joelinton who’s benefitted massively from a change of position.

Hayden was unlikely to get many opportunities in Howe’s side this season and it was probably best for both parties that he headed out on loan.
The Englishman is enjoying life in Norfolk with Norwich in the Championship and recently made his long-awaited comeback after being sidelined.
Newcastle are flying in the Premier League at the moment and currently sit fourth in the table after beating Tottenham over the weekend.
Much of their success has been down to the midfield partnership of Guimaraes and Joelinton. Howe will be hoping to keep the pair fit and firing as the Magpies aim to push for European qualification this season.
Newcastle host a rejuvenated Aston Villa side at St James’ Park on Saturday and will be aiming to continue their brilliant form.
