'They mess around so much': Some Arsenal fans fume as club plot new contract for academy graduate
Arsenal are reportedly keen on offering a new contract to Eddie Nketiah.
According to the Athletic, the Gunners want to tie the Hale End academy graduate to a fresh deal in order to protect his value in the transfer market.
Nketiah’s current deal expires next year, and there has been talk that the striker could leave this summer. The Standard reported earlier in the year that West Ham are keen in the England youth international.
The 21-year-old attacker had a poor season during the 2020/21 campaign. Nketiah managed just two goals in the Premier League and was restricted to mainly appearances off the bench.
The youngster was a target of racial abuse on social media as reported by Sky Sports News earlier in the year. In total, Nketiah scored six goals in all competitions for Arsenal.
The striker is likely to leave this summer, and Arsenal fans on social media are questioning why the club are offering Nketiah a new deal when his future with the club looks extremely uncertain.
Here’s what some supporters had to say on Twitter about Nketiah potentially being offered a new contract…
This club will be the death of me fr. Why do they mess around so much, especially when it's clear they won't make signings without sales first. We have to move on Laca & Eddie this summer, I don't want us to be stuck with Eddie and have him possibly take minutes away from Balogun— WIZRD (@thewizrd19) June 10, 2021

As well as Nketiah, Alexandre Lacazette could leave Arsenal this summer as well. The French striker also has a year remaining on his current deal, and his age makes him an ideal player to move on in the transfer window.
