Alan Brazil has been speaking on TalkSPORT today and is convinced over one signing Tottenham Hotspur need to make to win the Champions League.
Spurs put themselves in a strong position in their group last night after beating Eintracht Frankfurt 3-2. It was a much-improved attacking display for Spurs which saw Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son back to their best.
Despite a nervy final 10 minutes where the 10-men of Frankfurst pulled one back, there were some encouraging signs for Antonio Conte.
But Brazil feels Spurs are missing just one type of player to push them towards challenging for the Premier League and European honours – a world-class midfielder.

Brazil convinced over Tottenham signing
Speaking on TalkSPORT today, Brazil claims Spurs need a ‘touch of class’ in midfield if they want to challenge for the biggest club trophies.
“Again Ally [McCoist], they’re fine up-front, it’s the midfield – they need a touch of class in midfield,” he said.
“Conte might turn around and say ‘you find me one for the right price’. Well, you’ve got to if you want to be up there with the big boys and fighting to win a Premiership and getting to a semi-final or a final of the Champions League.
“You need class all over and you need class in midfield, they don’t have it!”
Conte currently plays with two central midfielders in his favoured 3-4-3 system, with Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg occupying the roles mostly.
Spurs did bring in Yves Bissouma over the summer but he hasn’t got off to the best start in north London.
Conte’s men are lacking a creative midfielder, with most of their creativity coming from Harry Kane and Dejan Kulusevski.
Ivan Perisic has shown already that he is capable of providing assists but hasn’t hit top form at Spurs just yet.

Tottenham seem to be crying out for a number ten or creative midfielder, but does Conte actually want one? His clear preference of playing a pivot in midfield suggests he doesn’t but it would certainly be a useful option for the Italian.
Hojbjerg and Bentancur have both performed well this season, particularly the Danish midfielder. Conte did switch to a 3-5-2 last weekend against Brighton, which would be the ideal system to utilise a more creative midfielder.
It will be interesting to see if Spurs do eventually target a player in the mould of James Maddison. It would certainly go a long way to fixing Spurs’ creativity issues and providing Conte with an alternative option.
