'There is a chance': Romano claims Arsenal could sign 'unstoppable' attacker; he's keen on Gunners move
Arsenal have been linked with Shakhtar Donetsk’s Mykhaylo Mudryk in recent weeks.
Speculation intensified when Mmudryk10 – the official account of the Shakhtar gem – ‘liked’ a post linking Arsenal with him.
However, the Gunners weren’t able to get a deal over the line come the transfer window’s closure.
Mudryk has since gone on to make even more of a name for himself this month.
The Ukraine international has registered two goals and two assists from two Champions League outings this term.
As Arsenal failed to get any late signings over the line this summer, they could well try again in January.
“I think in the future there is a chance for Arsenal, but not only Arsenal,” said Romano.
“In August, they had some conversations with the agents of Mudryk.
“But then, when they knew about the price tag, way more than €30m (£26m), they decided not to bid.”
Romano continued: “There are many clubs in the race [to sign him].
“When I was speaking to my sources during the summer about Mudryk with clubs around Europe, they told me from Shakhtar, they really think this guy is worth way more than €30m.”
“I can’t say no”
It would certainly appear that Mudryk is ready to make the move to Arsenal if the chance presents itself.
“Yes, I think every guy dreams about playing in the Premier League,” he told CBS Sports.
“Arsenal is a very good team, very good coach. I like the way they play.
“Yes, from my side, I can’t say no, but a transfer is not only my decision.”
“Perfect player for teams that love to play an attacking style of football”
Arsenal would be getting themselves a top talent in Mudryk in January if they succeed in landing him.
The versatile attacker has been nicknamed the “Ukrainian Neymar” for his exciting style of play.
Shakhtar themselves have described Mudryk as “unstoppable” on their Twitter channel.
Meanwhile, Foot The Ball published an in-depth scouting article on Mudryk earlier this summer.
“The 21-year-old is a skilled player that can play anywhere across the front line but prefers the left-wing,” they wrote.
“Mudryk is a perfect player for teams that love to play an attacking style of football.
“He can score goals, but his speciality lies in assists. He can find that killer pass that can split open defences.
“In addition, he can also use his skill and pace to get past defenders.”
