Celtic star James Forrest has admitted that he wants to get a new contract over the line. Forrest wants to commit his long-term future to Celtic and has hinted that he could become a one-club player, The Daily Record reports.

Forrest has played a key role in Celtic’s team over the past few seasons, attracting interest from England. But the Scotland international is eager to continue his career at Parkhead rather than move elsewhere.

He has expressed his desire to sign a contract extension and hopes to get this sorted soon. And Forrest wants to continue playing for Celtic as long as he is able to.

As reported by The Daily Record, Forrest said: “I’ve not hidden the fact I’d like to extend. The manager spoke about it in the Press which was really good because you feel good when the staff at the club want you to stay.

“It’s a busy time for the club with the transfer window ongoing but I would love to get it done soon and just concentrate on football. Nowadays you don’t get many one-club players but there are not many clubs like Celtic in the world.

“The fan base and everything about the club is just incredible, I’ve really seen that over the last few years and I’d love to stay a part of that for as long as I can.

Forrest boost

This is a major boost for the Bhoys. When Celtic produce exciting homegrown players, they usually leave to try their hand in the Premier League. But Forrest does not seem interested in this challenge.

Instead, he is happy to keep winning the Scottish Premiership title with the Glasgow club and playing Champions League football. In his career so far, the 28-year-old has scored 73 goals and provided 72 assists in 352 Celtic games.

If he can rediscover his form from last season (18 goals and 20 assists), then he can be a deadly player for Celtic over the next few years. Having a top performer who wants to represent the club is a major boost for Neil Lennon and the Celtic fans.
