Arsenal cult hero Theo Walcott has provided an honest verdict on the Gunners’ front line following their Champions League loss on Wednesday night.
Mikel Arteta‘s Arsenal charges fell to a heart-breaking 1-0 loss to Porto in their Champions League last-16 first leg at the Estadio do Dragao.
Arsenal went into the game on the back of two resounding Premier League wins in which they scored 11 unanswered goals.
However, against Porto, the Gunners failed to register a shot on target for the first time in two years, as per Sky Sports.
Arsenal would go on to rue this lack of cutting edge as Galeno hit a superb long-range effort past David Raya in the fourth minute of stoppage time.
Arsenal ace Kai Havertz has little joy on return to Porto
Kai Havertz famously scored the winning goal for Chelsea in the 2021 Champions League final, which took place at Porto’s ground.
However, he didn’t have such luck this time round, as he had few chances to do so, even when moving up front late on.
And though Havertz did make some good late runs into the box, Walcott – speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live – says he’s sadly not the goalscoring solution Arsenal need.

“There was no Gabriel Jesus tonight, so Arsenal didn’t really have anyone else to call upon,” he said, as per BBC Sport.
“Kai Havertz, as good as he has been recently, he is not a striker either.
“That is something that Edu and Mikel Arteta will be discussing in the summer, there is no doubt about that.”
Arsenal still have a good chance to get over the line against Porto, with the second leg coming up on 12 March at the Emirates Stadium.
However, there’s no doubting that the Gunners need to look into buying a new centre-forward in the summer. At this point, one would clearly be the missing piece of the jigsaw.
