Theo Walcott has joked that David Silva should consider a move to Everton with the Spaniard set to leave Manchester City on a free transfer this summer, during an interview with BeIN Sports.

Silva, 34, is set to leave Manchester City this summer after a stunning decade in the Premier League. The pocket-sized 125-time Spain international has clocked up four Premier League titles, five Carabao Cups and two FA Cups.

In that time, Silva has clocked up a whopping 433 appearances for City. Where he goes remains to be seen, but it is expected that the former Valencia man could move to America, China or the Middle East.

Certainly, David Beckham’s Inter Miami have been linked but Everton star Walcott has joked that the Toffees would be willing to sign him – and urged Silva to perform a u-turn in leaving the Premier League.

“It’ll be sad to see him go,” Walcott said about the £25million Manchester City star (Telegraph). “When you see players like Silva, we just want you to stay a bit longer, we want to see a bit more of you in the Prem.

“Hopefully he does a bit of a u-turn. I suppose our door is always open if he wants to come down the road. He wouldn’t have to move house anyway.”

TBR’s view – Silva still good enough for the Premier League

Certainly, Silva has had a hand in 17 goals during his 37 appearances this season – scoring six goals and creating 11 more. In his last three Premier League games, Silva has scored two goals and created three more.

But surely a player of his calibre – and wages – Silva is far beyond Everton. Silva has the choice of remaining in one of Europe’s top leagues and joining another big side – or moving to a so-called retirement league. The latter is likely.
