Theo Walcott hails Cesc Fabregas
Well, the man who made 397 appearances for Arsenal was asked to describe some of his old teammates using just one word.
When Fabregas popped up, Walcott immediately said “precision” – to highlight the Spaniard’s immense passing accuracy and controlled style of play.
Arsenal actually managed to sign the man from Arenys de Mar from Barcelona in 2003 for just £2.25m after Arsene Wenger identified him as a precocious talent.
In fact – according to Sky Sports – Arsenal only paid £700,000 and decided to waive the £1.75m Barcelona still owed from the double transfer of Marc Overmars and Emmanuel Petit in July 2000.

Fabregas went on to become an icon in north London, making a total of 303 appearances – more than he made for any other side – scoring 57 goals while also providing 95 assists.
Arsenal eventually made a huge profit, selling the midfield maestro back to Barcelona for £35m in 2011.
Arsenal boast some of the best recruitment in Premier League history
Times have changed, and bargains are hard to come by nowadays.
However, Arsenal absolutely excelled when it came to finding gems back in the day, and can boast some of the greatest signings in Premier League history.
Fabregas for just £700,000 is one, while Robin van Persie also arrived for a bargain fee – £2.5m to be exact.

Arsenal also managed to find Emmanuel Adebayor for £3m before selling the Togolese striker to Manchester City for £25m – another notable bargain was Nicolas Anelka for only £500,000.
In truth, Arsenal are still at it nowadays – the signing of Gabriel Martinelli for £6m was a modern day miracle in terms of recruitment.
Hopefully, Edu can find some more diamonds in the market this summer.
