Theo Walcott has suggested that former Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour is good enough to play for Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur.
Walcott made the comments about Gilmour in the build-up to the Premier League match between Arsenal and Brighton and Hove Albion at the Emirates Stadium this past weekend.
So, what has Theo Walcott said about Tottenham Hotspur and Billy Gilmour? Let’s take a look.
Billy Gilmour backed for Tottenham Hotspur transfer
Well, Theo Walcott believes that Billy Gilmour is good enough to play for Tottenham Hotspur. The former Arsenal forward has said that he could see the ex-Chelsea midfielder move to Spurs in the future.
Walcott shared his opinion on Gilmour on BBC Sport in the build-up to the Premier League match between Arsenal and Brighton and Hove Albion at the Emirates Stadium in North London on Sunday.
Arsenal beat Brighton 2-0. Gilmour, who was linked with Everton in the summer of 2022, started as one of the two holding midfielders for the Seagulls.

Walcott said: “I can help you out there, we’re saying top five are we? Well I would probably say Tottenham are just outside that top five right now, so I would go sixth.”
Former Manchester City player Nedum Onuoha responded: “Said with all his Arsenal chest!”
Walcott stated: “I could see him playing for Tottenham, I could see him playing for that sort of club. To be fair that’s why I say Tottenham are just outside the top four.
“But, it’s a lot of pressure on that man’s shoulders, I’m not quite sure, we just need to be patient, but I would say just outside of the top four and that’s the reason I said Tottenham.”
Billy Gilmour could star at Tottenham Hotspur
In my view, Billy Gilmour could be a star for Tottenham Hotspur and would be a good signing for the North London club.
Gilmour struggled to make an impact at Chelsea, but he did impress Manchester United legend Roy Keane during his time at the Blues.
The 22-year-old left Chelsea for good in 2022, and he has done well at Brighton and Hove Albion.
The former Rangers prospect is flourishing at Brighton, and he is just 22. There is more to come from Gilmour, who could develop even further and add more facets to his game in the coming years.
Gilmour has made 11 starts and five substitute appearances in the Premier League for Brighton this season. The Scotland international midfielder has given one assist in those games.
The youngster has also made four starts and two substitute appearances in the UEFA Europa League this campaign.
