'The time has come': Journalist claims 'sensational' Arsenal-linked £60m star could move this summer

Reported Arsenal target Ruben Neves could finally decide to leave Wolves this summer, according to Dean Jones.

The journalist was speaking to GiveMeSport about the midfielder’s future ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

In April, Sky Sports reported that Mikel Arteta has made Neves a top target for his Arsenal midfield.

One Player Your Club MUST Sell This Summer (2022)

The report claimed the Gunners could have to pay around £60m for the Portugal international.

And late last month, 90Min claimed Neves wants to leave his current club, with the likes of Arsenal circling.

However, Wolves boss Bruno Lage recently suggested Neves could fetch up to £100m in this current market.

“When you have a top player like him in that specific position… the big teams are there with £100m to buy these kinds of players,” Lage was recently quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

“Big decision to make”

Jones has now claimed that Neves and Wolves are in talks over his future at Molineux.

However, he reckons that both parties might have realised that “the time has come” for the two to part company.

“I think Wolves are going to find it hard to keep hold of him this year,” he wrote on GiveMeSport.

“Talks are ongoing over a new deal, but I think there’s a realisation on both parties here that maybe the time has come for them to move on.

“I’m sure Ruben Neves in the summer will have a big decision to make on his future.”

Neves’ contract runs until 2024, so his club’s hand would be fairly strong in negotiations.

But if Arsenal signed him, they’d be getting a “sensational” player, in Gary Neville’s words.

Neves is heading into the peak of his career, is world-class, and has plenty of Premier League experience to boot.

The likes of Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka, Martin Odegaard and Mohamed Elneny have done well for Arsenal.

But they do not have the strength in depth to take them to the next level just yet.

Neves is someone who would go on to help them achieve just that.
