Marco Silva needs Everton’s form to pick up soon or he might not be in the job much longer.
But if he is, he will think about trimming his Everton squad in the January transfer window. Everton have a number of fringe players who could be on their way out in January.
Here are three Toffees players who could be leaving in the new year – unless something drastic changes between now and then.
Niasse joined Everton in January 2016 but has since managed just 39 appearances. With nine Everton goals to his name, his time in Merseyside has not been a success.
The Senegal striker has previously spent time on loan with Hull and Cardiff. Last January, Niasse moved to Cardiff on loan and next January could be his permanent exit.
Tosun is another misfiring Everton striker who could be on his way out. This season, the Turkish striker has failed to score in his two outings. He now has 45 appearances and just nine goals to his name.
The 28-year-old finds himself below Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Moise Kean in the pecking order. Tosun will go down as a big-money flop unless he can somehow turn things around in the next two months.
Martina spent the whole of last season out on loan – firstly with Stoke and then with Feyenoord. After failing to secure a permanent exit in the summer, the Curacao defender has been stranded at Goodison Park.
The 30-year-old’s only game this season has come in the Everton U23 squad. He surely looks set for the exit door with many players blocking his route to Silva’s side.
