The three best and worst performers from the Manchester derby

The worst

Marouane Fellaini

For a player that has long looked out of place at United, Fellaini really didn’t do his long-term future any favours against Manchester City.

In the team to provide an aerial threat, the Belgian failed to do the one job that was asked he to do while a moment of madness late on left his teammates with their backs to the wall for the last ten minutes. Two fouls in 15 seconds on Aguero before head-butting the Argentinian immediately after earned him an early bath and a likely three-game ban.

Sergio Aguero

Despite his experienced fall to convince the referee to send Fellaini off, Aguero had a poor evening. The Argentinian had nine attempts on goal and only found the target three times.

In the final minutes, he failed to steer a beautiful cross into the back of the net. However, it was a hard chance to finish, in fairness.

Claudio Bravo

Something hasn’t been right for Bravo all season and his flaws were laid bare against Manchester United. Despite maintaining a 100% pass accuracy, the Chilean looks uncertain in between the sticks.

He misjudged a cross from Anthony Martial early on, palming the ball into Henrik Mkhitaryan’s path, who failed to take advantage of the opportunity. It went from bad to worse for Bravo though as he picked up an injury and had to be replaced by Willy Cabellero.
