It’s quite incredible what a change in manager, and a subsequent restoration of confidence can do to a player, and the effects of this are no more clear to see than with Chelsea attacker Pedro, who has experienced a remarkable turn-around in fortunes since the arrival of Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge.

Signed from Barcelona for £19 million in the 2015 summer transfer window, the 27-year-old had largely been considered a disappointing buy. Nonetheless, his contribution this season, with Chelsea atop of the Premier League pile, has gone a long way to altering supporters’ opinions of the World Cup winning winger.

So great has the Spaniard’s improvement in form been, he has now been directly involved in more goals this season than throughout the entirety of the previous campaign, in which he tallied eight strikes and two assists (34 appearances in all competitions).

The rejuvenated Pedro scored twice and set-up a third against Peterborough in the FA Cup on Sunday, taking his season contribution to 12 team goals – split six goals and six assists. Impressively, he has reached this total in just 21 matches, suggesting he could be set to blow last season’s efforts out of the water.
