Joe Cole and Rio Ferdinand have been building their unfulfilled potential XI for TNT Sports.
Indeed speaking on TNT Sports, the two pundits have made an XI of players who they feel haven’t fulfilled their potential over the years, and there’s plenty of north London representation in this side.
The likes of Adel Taarabt and Ledley King from Tottenham made the cut, while Jack Wilshere and Abou Diaby were also in the side.
Joe Cole has been discussing all of these players, and he compared the situations of Ledley King and Wilshere, claiming that both players are very similar in terms of the fact they’re incredibly talented players who were hampered by injuries.

Jack Wilshere is like Ledley King
Cole spoke about the two players.
“There are reasons for not fulfilling their talent, Ledley King. Ledley couldn’t train, but if he could’ve trained he could’ve been winning titles, eventually he had to stay at Tottenham because he was training once or twice a week. Jack Wilshere is the same at one point and his partner in midfield as well, Diaby,” Cole said.
Such a shame
It’s always sad to see a player’s career hampered by injury, but, on this occasion, it’s even more upsetting.
Indeed, both Wilshere and King could’ve been massive players for England, but injuries dampened their international prospects, while they also could’ve been legends for Spurs and Arsenal too.
These two were homegrown talents, and if they managed to stay fit and fulfil their potentials they could easily have become icons for their respective sides.
King did, of course, become a bit of a Spurs legend in his own right, but he could’ve achieved so much more without his injuries, while Wilshere also suffered the same fate.
It’s such a shame that these two had their careers affected in this way.
