Arsenal have been given a timely boost in their pursuit of RB Salzburg attacker, Dominik Szoboszlai, with the Hungarian’s agent admitting a move is getting ‘closer’.

Szoboszlai is one of the most in-form players in Europe after impressing both for Salzburg and at international level with Hungary.

The 20-year-old already has five goals and nine assists this season for Salzburg, while last week he scored a stunning late winner for Hungary against Iceland.

And now, with a host of clubs said to be keen on the youngster, his agent has admitted that his time in Austria is edging closer to an end.

“We’re seeing that every time he has a good game, which fortunately is happening quite often, the rumours are getting stronger,” Esterhazy Matyas said. (Digisport)

“However, our strategy isn’t going to change because of one or two games. Whether it’s in January or next summer, the most important thing is that he goes to a club where he will have a good chance of playing regularly and continuing the learning curve he started in Salzburg – that’s the most important thing for us. Obviously, it’s no secret that Dominik is closer now to leaving the Austrian league.”

Arsenal are said to be one of a number of clubs keen on Szoboszlai. The Sun also claimed this week that Real Madrid have joined the hunt alongside the Gunners.

It’s clear, then, that there is going to be a fierce race to land the Hungarian in the next couple of windows.

One of the finest young talents in world football at the moment, if ever there was a time for Arteta and Edu to sell their project then it’s now.

Adding Szoboszlai would be a superb piece of business. He’s young, talented, and seemingly has a very high ceiling in terms of improving even further.

Goals, assists, and the ability to put defenders on the back foot also make him standout and with Mesut Ozil cast adrift, Szoboszlai could be just the tonic for the Gunners.
