Tottenham Hotspur defender Juan Foyth scored his first Premier League goal on the weekend, netting the winner in a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace.

The Argentinian drew widespread praise after his excellent performance, which came on the heels of a shaky display against Wolves just a week earlier.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Dele Alli and Erik Lamela lauded the 20-year-old centre-half, revealing that Spurs pulled off a major transfer coup when signing Foyth in 2017.

Alli told the Tottenham website that Foyth responded brilliantly after his Molineux horror-show.

“Every day he works hard in training waiting for his chance, got it against Wolves and it showed his character to bounce back after giving away two penalties,” Alli said. “Things like that build you as a character.”

Furthermore, Foyth’s countryman Lamela also credited the youngster for his adaptation to English football.

“It’s not easy when you come to England, it takes a little time but in the end, everything arrives and Juan is playing very good at the moment and I’m so happy for him,” Lamela said.

Earning high praise from accomplished internationals such as Dele Alli and Erik Lamela is a remarkable feat for Juan Foyth, providing further evidence that the defender has the potential to be one of the best in the world.
