'The one': Reporter shares incredible prediction that Nelson made about Saka in 2018
Journalist David Ornstein has revealed an incredible prediction Arsenal attacker Reiss Nelson made on Bukayo Saka three years ago.
Speaking on the England Show podcast, the Athletic journalist recalled a story of when he met the Arsenal attacker in Germany for an interview.
During a discussion about up-and-coming players at the club, Nelson waxed lyrical about Saka, then just a 16-year-old.
Nelson on Arsenal star Saka: “This is the one”
Ornstein recalls: “He (Nelson) just stopped me when I was speaking and said ‘there’s only one you need to watch out and it’s Saka.’
“I’d never heard of him. This was 2018, and Saka was 16. He said ‘That is the one. That boy can do things you wouldn’t have seen on a football pitch’”
Indeed, Nelson’s prediction was nailed on, and then some. Since 2018, Saka has asserted himself as one of Arsenal’s best players as well as a key player for England this summer for Euro 2020.
The now 19-year-old attacker was one of the few bright spots for the Gunners last season as Arsenal finished to qualify for Europe for the first time in 26 years.
And Saka will once again be expected to perform when the 2021/22 campaign kicks off in over a month.
As for Nelson, it is some twisted joke that the 21-year-old attacker has been surpassed by Saka at Arsenal
The winger was once the jewel of the Hale End academy. But, injuries and a lack of first-team football have seen the England youth star questioning his own future with Arsenal.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, there is a new deal on the table for Nelson. However, the attacker is yet to sign on the dotted line for Arsenal, with four clubs reportedly interested in signing the youngster on a permanent deal.
