Radu Dragusin is Tottenham’s newest signing.

The Romanian defender has joined Tottenham, and we’re excited to see what the 21-year-old can do in north London.

Dragusin is now a Tottenham player, but, in all honesty, fans don’t know that much about him.

Dragusin is only 21 years old and he hasn’t got that many senior appearances to his name.

So, what is Dragusin all about as a player? Well, it’s been stated that he’s a front-footed defender who loves a tackle, and speaking on The Tottenham Way Podcast, Tom Allnutt has now shared an insight into how good the defender is at heading.

According to Allnutt, Dragusin is fantastic in the air, claiming that he’s been told that he earned the nickname ‘The Train’ during his time at Genoa due to how he could storm through opposition defenders from corners.

Dragusin’s nickname was The Train

Allnutt shared what he knows about Dragusin and his nickname at Genoa.

“He’s very good in the air, not just because of his height, his aggression, he has a good leap. Good defensively and a threat from set-pieces, one of the Genoa assistant managers likes to call Dragusin ‘The Train’ because of how he storms through opposition defenders and nods the ball into the net,” Allnutt said.

Exciting

If there’s one thing you can’t have enough of in your team it’s set-piece threats.

Spurs have an incredible dead-ball specialist in the shape of James Maddison, and having another player like Dragusin in the box to attack his deliveries will surely pay dividends throughout the season.

It may sound old-fashioned, but having an aerial threat in both boxes can be the difference in any given match, and it sounds as though Dragusin will really help Spurs in those areas.

Tottenham might have a new weapon up their sleeve with Dragusin in the team.
