A number of Tottenham fans have praised Spurs academy gem Jez Davies following his impressive Youth Cup display on Thursday.

The 17-year-old scored twice and grabbed an assist for the Tottenham Under-18s as they ran out 5-1 winners over Ipswich.

Even more remarkably, Davies was only on the pitch for the last 13 minutes of the game.

The versatile youngster came off the bench in the 77th minute of the third-round match.

Spurs U18s were previously struggling and hadn’t scored a goal in almost 400 minutes of football.

But against Ipswich, Jaden Williams gave Tottenham the lead, before skipper Alfie Devine made it 2-0 at half-time.

Blues striker Ashley Boatswain halved the deficit just before the hour, but then Davies came on and changed the game.

His first came on 82 minutes as he capitalised on a collision between defender and keeper to slot home.

Spurs then saved a 90th-minute Ipswich penalty before Davies squared for Khalon Haysman to score in the third minute of stoppage time.

Two minutes later, Davies brought down Max McKnight’s cross and fired low into the net.

An impressive display from the Tottenham prodigy and Spurs fans loved what they saw:
