Sunderland fans were treated to a five-goal thriller on Tuesday night as the Black Cats progressed in the League Cup.
Lee Johnson’s charges headed to Blackpool for their second-round tie and ran out 3-2 winners.
Sunderland had to come from behind as Shayne Lavery netted in the ninth minute of the match.

However, the Black Cats drew level just three minutes later through Aiden O’Brien.
Sunderland turned the game around in the second half as O’Brien netted just before the hour.
And though Josh Bowler equalised for the hosts in the 87th minute, O’Brien sealed his hat-trick in injury time.
While the Sunderland striker rightly earned the match ball and most of the plaudits, a lot of praise also went towards other players.
Dan Neil was especially superb in the first half, providing a sublime assist for O’Brien’s equaliser.

Besides his goal contribution, the 19-year-old looked confident, won challenges, and found space in the tightest spots.
