‘The lad’s a gem’, ‘Back in time for the play-offs’ – Sheffield Wednesday fans discuss Newcastle loanee Achraf Lazaar’s injury

Achraf Lazaar limped off against Brentford.

Sheffield Wednesday moved into the top half of the table with a 2-0 victory over Brentford last night.

But they also suffered an injury blow as Achraf Lazaar limped off and was replaced by Dominic Iorfa in the first half.

Lazaar joined Sheffield Wednesday late in the January transfer window, agreeing a half-season loan switch from Newcastle United.

The attack-minded left-back was out of favour under Rafa Benitez at Newcastle and was allowed to pursue first-team options at Hillsborough.

But since arriving at Sheffield Wednesday, Lazaar has established himself as a regular for Steve Bruce’s side.

The Morocco international has made the left-back spot his own and has produced some consistent performances.

But with the club in form and just six points shy of the play-off zone, Sheffield Wednesday will be disappointed to lose the 27-year-old for any period of time.

Bruce has since confirmed that Lazaar’s injury could rule him out for two weeks, as reported by local journalist Dom Howson.

This means he could miss next Monday’s Steel City derby with automatic promotion hopefuls Sheffield United.

Below are what Sheffield Wednesday fans had to say about Newcastle loanee Lazaar’s injury setback.
