‘The king is back’: Everton fans discuss Oumar Niasse’s goal

Everton had a midweek friendly last night against Kenyan side Gor Mahia and it was a chance for Marco Silva to run the rule over some squad players.

In an attempt to keep players fresh and look at his alternative options, Silva selected an experimental line-up to face Gor Mahia.

Fringe players like Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Cenk Tosun and Ademola Lookman were all given chances to impress.

Elsewhere, Yerry Mina got some minutes under his belt and Tom Davies and Morgan Schneiderlin hoped to catch the eye in midfield.

And there was a rare substitute appearance for forgotten man Oumar Niasse.

The Senegal striker was last seen over a month ago in the cup against Southampton. And his last Premier League outing was against West Ham in mid-September.

But the 28-year-old sent a reminder to Silva by getting his name on the score sheet after coming on.

Niasse scored Everton’s final goal in the 4-0 win. In the 88th minute, he received the ball from Nathan Broadhead, beat his marker and hit a low drive into the bottom corner from outside the box.

Here is what Everton fans were saying about his cameo.
