Danny Welbeck

A more recent player to come through the United youth system but a player they never managed to extract the full potential from which eventually led to his departure to rivals Arsenal. Manchester-born he was spotted by United as young as six years old and impressed through the ranks scoring on his debut in 2008 before three different loan moves.

Welbeck was given his chance in the 2011-12 season and was nominated for young player of the year but the following season he had a severe lack of goals before a disappointing season on the wing under David Moyes after which he spoke of his desire to leave to play as a striker on a regular basis.
