‘The hero’, ‘superb’: Some fans wowed by 23-year-old Wolves loanee’s display last night
Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Matija Sarkic is currently away from Molineux on loan.
The 23-year-old has been plying his trade with Shrewsbury, who have been climbing up the League One table in recent weeks.
They were battling relegation earlier this season but a run of seven league wins from their last 10 has helped them build a nine-point gap above the bottom four.

Sarkic is now enjoying an extended run in the first team after recovering from a knee injury which ruled him out for two months.
And the Wolves man was instrumental once again for Shrewsbury as they ran out 2-1 winners over Sunderland at the New Meadow.
The visitors enjoyed most of the possession and weighed in with 18 efforts, six on target, as they opened the scoring on 21 minutes through Aiden O’Brien.
However, Sarkic subsequently held firm as Shrewsbury bounced back through second-half goals from Ethan Ebanks-Landell and Harry Chapman.
Here is what some of the Shrews fans were saying on social media about Sarkic’s display:
Sarkic the hero

Tidy save by Sarkic to keep this lead intact from a McGeady free kick! Then a big claim at the edge of his area #Salop 🔷🔶

That is some result. We’ve been putting performances together but struggling when we’ve gone behind. Tonight we’ve proved we can come back. Sensational shrews! What a job SC is doing! Love it. Superb from Sarkic, Chapman and Main. #salop 💙💛⚽️

Top three for me tonight:
1. Chapman – just sensational
2. Main – works so hard and must be a nightmare to play against
3. Sarkic – some vital saves and clean handlingHonorable mentions for Ogbeta and Goss. Both terrific.#Salop
