Cole Palmer has had a difficult start to the season due to an ongoing groin problem, and Enzo Maresca has revealed which Chelsea games he’s now set to miss.
Palmer’s entire season has been plagued by injury so far, which has restricted him from getting a solid run of games under his belt, weakening Maresca’s team in the process.
The England international has thrived at Stamford Bridge during the past two seasons, but his issues throughout this campaign have led to Maresca having to manage his minutes carefully.
There had been fears that Palmer would need surgery to fix the issue, but Maresca has now confirmed that this isn’t going to be the case.
While that is a positive update for the player who finished eighth in this year’s Ballon d’Or awards, he will still miss several Chelsea fixtures.

Enzo Maresca reveals Cole Palmer will miss several weeks for Chelsea
Palmer’s fitness issues have been a big talking point among Chelsea fans this season, with the playmaker having evidently not been 100 per cent at any point.
During Maresca’s press conference ahead of their upcoming game against Brighton, he delivered the latest update on his injury.
“We decided to protect a little bit Cole in terms of his injuries not getting worse.
“We decided to rest him for the next two or three weeks before the international break to see if he can recover 100% and be fully fit from the international break.”
Palmer has managed to make an impact throughout the season during his brief appearances, scoring twice in the four games he’s featured in.
Cole Palmer will miss several crucial fixtures for Chelsea
Palmer’s injury news will be a significant blow to Maresca given his importance to the squad, with his quality shining through during his appearances this season, despite not being fully fit.
Palmer is set to miss two Premier League fixtures during this absence, starting with this weekend’s game against Brighton.
He will also be unavailable for the trip to Anfield as Chelsea play Liverpool, meanwhile, Palmer will also miss out on Jose Mourinho’s return to Stamford Bridge.

If Maresca’s planned timeline for Palmer does turn out to be true, then Palmer will be back in the Chelsea squad for their Premier League fixture against Nottingham Forest.
But for now, Chelsea will have to replace Palmer moving forward, which presents an opportunity for someone else to make an impact.
