‘The big one’… David Ornstein says £30m Arsenal player could be sold if they try to raise money

Arsenal may need to sell in order to buy in January.

After spending over £200m in the summer transfer window, the Gunners are cutting it fine in terms of FFP, and a few sales may need to be made.

The likes of Emile Smith Rowe and Eddie Nketiah have been touted as potential players who could leave the club, but according to David Ornstein, speaking on the Transfer Gossip Daily Podcast, Aaron Ramsdale is the big player that Arsenal could sell if they need to raise a bit of cash.

Ramsdale could be Arsenal’s big sale

Ornstein shared what he knows about the £30m man.

“Ramsdale is the big one really, if there was a sizeable permanent offer for him the fact he’s not playing, that could bring in money and they could perhaps do something.

Where could he go?

Ramsdale is a valuable asset who has become expendable at Arsenal, but we can’t really see how he gets a move in January.

Money is tight all across the Premier League and Europe at the moment, and there aren’t many teams at that top level who need a goalkeeper at the moment.

There’s a reason Hugo Lloris has had to head off to MLS, and David De Gea can’t find a club. There literally isn’t much of a market in terms of goalkeepers at the moment.

Ramsdale is a player who is worth a lot of money in theory, but there just isn’t the demand out there for goalkeepers at the moment as most of the teams who could feasibly afford a move for the England international are already very settled in that position.

The sad reality is that Arsenal may struggle to raise the money to do the deals they want to this month.

Ramsdale may be condemned to another six months on the bench unless someone comes forward and decides they want to sign him.
