Tottenham Hotspur recorded their first champions league victory of the season against CSKA Moscow of Tuesday night, winning 1-0 away from home, thanks to another goal from Son Heung-Min. The South Korean international converted his third successful strike of the week, with 71 minutes on the clock, to give his side the narrowest of leads at the Arena CSKA.
Spurs travelled to Russia without Harry Kane, Eric Dier, Mousa Dembele, Danny Rose and Moussa Dembele, with Pochettino making two changes to the side that beat Middlesbrough on Saturday. Without Kane in the squad, Vincent Janssen and Son were tasked with providing the attacking support – and the latter didn’t disappoint.
The Lilywhites will have been desperate for a positive result on their travels to Russia, following a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Monaco in their opening Group E fixture. The result puts Mauricio Pochettino’s side second in the group, one point behind leaders Monaco, while Bayer Leverkusen – the London outfit’s upcoming opponents – and CSKA sit third and fourth respectively.
