Benjamin Henrichs – Bayer Leverkusen, Germany

The German national team are still looking for a perfect replacement for their former World Cup winning captain Phillip Lahm and they thought they found one in the form of Bayern’s Joshua Kimmich. But Kimmich’s deployment in midfield this season, may have put that thought on hold, much to the benefit of Bayer Leverkusen’s up and coming Benjamin Henrichs.

Just like Kimmich, Henrichs has proven to be very versatile having played across both sides of a back four as well as offensive and defensive midfield. Having started off in the middle of the park, it’s no surprise that Henrichs is so comfortable on the ball with both feet. his talents have been a major attribute to Leverkusen’s progress so far this season and he’s also earned his first call-up to Joachim Low’s German setup for their World Cup qualifiers in November.

The Ghanaian-German’s tactical awareness is brilliant for a 19-year-old and his adaptability to different roles will surely see the world’s biggest sides battle it out for his signature. His ability to get forward is top-notch and his bravery will definitely take him places, surely by the looks of things, the German national setup will definitely feel like they’ve got their man to complete their back four.
