The best and worst Celtic result of 2018

With just two games remaining against Aberdeen and Rangers in the league in 2018, Celtic can begin to reflect on another hectic year.

The Bhoys completed a domestic treble last season and in this campaign have picked up the League Cup already after beating Aberdeen on 2 December in the final.

Here is the standout best and worst match of 2018 for the Scottish champions:

Best

Celtic 5-0 Rangers, 29 April 2018

It doesn’t get much sweeter for Celtic than clinching the league title at home to their Old Firm rivals in emphatic fashion.

They wrapped up a seventh consecutive top-flight title in Scotland by trouncing their greatest rivals 5-0 at home.

Celtic saved their best performance of the season for the key time and it was a fairytale story at Parkhead to win the league.

Honourable mention: It certainly wasn’t the prettiest of results, but the 1-0 away win against Rosenborg at the end of November helped them on their way to Europa League joy this season. Celtic have struggled on the road in Europe, but the three points they secured in Norway helped secure a spot in the knockout rounds for 2019.

Worst

Kilmarnock 2-1 Celtic, 23 September 2018

Brendan Rodgers hasn’t quite had it all this way in the season and regaining the league isn’t a foregone conclusion.

Celtic certainly had a blip in the early stages of this campaign, which was really highlighted by a 2-1 away defeat to Kilmarnock.

They were left sixth in the table after the opening six league games and the defeat highlighted a real lack of creativity in the team.

But fortunately for them they managed to get back on track after and all in all 2018 has been another marvellous year for Celtic.
