Liverpool fans have been responding immediately on social media as owner John W. Henry issued an apology and statement in line with the failed ESL.
Liverpool became the latest club to drop out late last night as all six English clubs pulled the plug on the deal to join the controversial European Super League.
The Spanish and Italian clubs seem to be holding firm for now, while the ESL itself believes it can still work. But for English fans and clubs, the ‘dream’ is over for now at the very least.
One of the big issues a lot of Liverpool fans had was the lack of apology last night. But Henry, in fairness to him, has issued a statement of just over a few minutes long to apologise and try to explain his reasoning to Reds fans.
As always, the Twitter world has been reacting to his comments and it’s safe to say the Liverpool fanbase is split on this one.
Here, then, is a look at what some Reds fans had to say in response to John W. Henry’s apology and statement.
Fair enough. Made a mistake, apologised time to move on. #YNWA

Thank You so much for your heartfelt apology to everyone at LFC. The one thing you will find with people here is an apology like yours will be accepted. Let’s hope in the future we can see our club move forward to even greater success. YNWA, as long as you walk with us.

It would seem you can’t win. All the noise last night was about a lack of proper apology to fans and here you are providing that in a sincere manner and yet reading the responses that apology still isn’t enough for some! We move on!

WE will only forgive you if you make a big signing this summer, your intentions were still clear but this club is for the fans 🔴#FSGOut

Why does he keep saying your club instead of our club, does he not identify with Liverpool at all?
