To pick out the best Arsenal players in 2020 is quite a difficult task given their topsy-turvy form from the beginning of the year to the present day.

Mikel Arteta guided the Gunners to FA Cup glory earlier in 2020, while he also snatched the Community Shield. However, since then, things have gone backwards for Arteta and his team.

A miserable Premier League campaign this term has only been subsidised by an unbeaten Europa League campaign, where some of the club’s younger players have impressed.

Despite the inconsistencies, though, some Arsenal players can hold their heads high and be happy enough with their work in 2020.

With that, here’s our picks for the THREE best Arsenal players for the year 2020.

Kieran Tierney

Despite missing the first part of 2020 through injury, former Celtic man Tierney has become one of the Gunners’ top players both in terms of quality and effort.

Nobody can doubt the commitment levels shown by the Scot, while he’s also been comfortable both in a back three and four, helping Mikel Arteta’s tactical decisions throughout the year.

Tierney is improving by the game, too, which means 2021 promises to be an excellent year for the left-sided defender.

Bukayo Saka

The development of Saka has been one of the biggest positives to emerge from Arsenal this season. The England youngster has been in fine form, playing regularly both pre and post-lockdown and continuing that form into this season.

He’s played a part in all but two Premier League games this season and while he’d like more goals and assists going forward into the future, few will deny that Saka has been one of the Gunners’ biggest success stories in recent times.

Hector Bellerin

For a player who many have expected to be on his way out for some time now, Bellerin came roaring back to life in 2020.

A key figure since returning from injury at the start of the calendar year, Bellerin – like Tierney – has been a reliable defensive player for Mikel Arteta but has also played his part going forward.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles might well replace him long-term in north London but for now, Bellerin deserves credit for a fine 2020.
