'That's us finished': Some Everton fans react to 'disastrous' Tuesday news

Everton fans have bemoaned the news that Abdoulaye Doucoure has suffered a stress response in his foot.

The 28-year-old Toffees midfielder has been key for Rafael Benitez this season, registering two goals and four assists in the league.

However, Doucoure suffered the injury in Sunday’s 1-0 home defeat to West Ham, and now looks set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Everton released a statement regarding the midfielder’s injury on Tuesday,

It read: “Everton can confirm that Abdoulaye Doucoure has suffered a stress response in a bone in his foot sustained during Sunday’s match against West Ham United.

“The French midfielder is being assessed by the Club’s medical team at USM Finch Farm and is undergoing further investigation to determine the full extent of the injury.”

On a more positive note, Everton also confirmed that, “contrary to reports, Doucoure will not require an operation.”

According to The Guardian, Doucore has suffered a fractured metatarsal.

Benitez remains without midfield alternatives Andre Gomes and Fabian Delph due to injury.

In addition, strikers Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison have also struggled with fitness problems.

Things aren’t going well for Everton on the injury front, and some fans were gutted about this latest development:
