‘That’s the aim’… Recently sacked manager says he wants the Man United or Everton job

Although neither position seems to be available right now, one manager has now admitted he would like the Manchester United or Everton job one day.

Erik ten Hag, who’s not enjoyed the smoothest of rides at Old Trafford, doesn’t seem to be under any immediate threat at Man United, even if things will need to improve in the long-term.

And on the other hand, Sean Dyche is doing a stellar job at Everton, even if he will also want to better his side’s performances towards the end of the season.

But when asked what job he’d like next, there seemed to be no doubt in Wayne Rooney’s mind.

Rooney, who was providing coverage for Man United’s cup tie against Nottingham Forest on the BBC, admitted that those opportunities might not be right around the corner.

But following being sacked as Birmingham City manager, after being in charge for just 83 days, it doesn’t seem as if Rooney has been deterred.

Rooney suffered nine defeats in 15 games at Birmingham, but still seems hungry to find his next role and prove his credentials.

Wayne Rooney wants to be Manchester United or Everton manager in future

Rooney, who is still a very young manager at 38-years-old, suggested that he wanted to strengthen his reputation as a coach again.

He said: “Of course that’s the aim. United, Everton – all these big jobs you want to try and do.

“But it’s a process and I have to go through the steps to get myself back on track and back into management to make sure in the next 10 years that I am in a position where I can hopefully go into one of the big jobs.”

Of course, you would have to imagine, and perhaps as Rooney alludes to, that the former player of both clubs wouldn’t be ready for either role were it presented in the next few months.

That being said, it also doesn’t seem as if Everton or Man United will be looking for a new manager any time soon.

But fans of both clubs will surely be pleased to hear Rooney speaking with such clarity and ambition.

All that being said, one journalist has now been sharing what he’s been hearing about Erik ten Hag and Marcus Rashford’s relationship right now.
