'That's right': Agent says Celtic want to sign his striker, scored more than Edouard last season

Celtic have been linked with Georgios Giakoumakis in recent days.

And Giannis Emmanouilidis, the striker’s agent, has confirmed the Hoops are indeed keen on his client.

The Daily Record and Sky Sports claimed on Tuesday that Celtic had made contact over Giakoumakis.

The VVV-Venlo forward was the top scorer in the Eredivisie last season with 26 goals, despite his club’s relegation.

Giakoumakis registered 29 goals in all competitions last term, seven more than Odsonne Edouard’s tally.

The Daily Record claims a £2.5million transfer fee could be enough to bring the 26-year-old to Parkhead.

When asked by Voetbal Primeur whether Celtic were eyeing Giakoumakis, Emmanouilidis replied: “That’s right.

“But I can’t say more about it. We’re looking at all the options.”

Giakoumakis’ VVV-Venlo contract expires at the end of next season, though the club seemingly holds an additional one-year option.

Celtic have reportedly also agreed a £2.5million fee to sign right-back Josip Juranovic from Legia Warsaw.

Ange Postecoglou’s charges are next in action on Wednesday night, facing AZ Alkmaar in their Europa League playoff first leg.
