‘That’s poor’: Premier League pundit slams £2m West Ham United player for what he did against Crystal Palace today

Premier League pundit Don Hutchison has slammed West Ham United defender Craig Dawson for what he did against Crystal Palace today.

The Hammers were looking to bounce back after falling to a 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford last week.

David Moyes’ men took the lead in the first-half after Said Benrahma rifled a shot into the top corner from just outside the penalty area.

But Palace cancelled out the Hammers’ opener just before half-time after some poor defending. And Hutchison has criticised Dawson for making a costly mistake.

Hutchison slams Dawson

Eberechi Eze dispossessed Thilo Kehrer deep into West Ham’s half before playing the ball into Zaha.

Dawson stepped out to try and challenge the Palace man for the ball, but was too slow to react.

Zaha then smashed the ball past Lukasz Fabianski and got Patrick Vieira’s men back on level terms.

Hutchison was not impressed with West Ham’s attempt to play out from the defence and felt £2 million man Dawson’s positioning was poor.

“Not good defending, that’s poor from West Ham trying to play out from the back,” Hutchison told the Premier League’s official website.

“Once Dawson gets sucked in he’s never going to recover and you always fancy Wilf Zaha from there, the form that he’s in.”

Moyes will be massively disappointed to fall to defeat today after Michael Olise’s last-minute winner in East London.

The Hammers will feel slightly hard done by after Olise’s shot deflected off Aaron Creswell’s leg and looped over Fabianksi’s head into the goal.

But today’s loss will be a big blow for Moyes after he had seemingly turned a corner in recent weeks. West Ham have now lost consecutive games in the Premier League and sit fifteenth in the table.

The Scotsman will certainly be feeling the pressure after being backed by the Hammers board over the summer.
