Spurs are reportedly close to signing 22-year-old Bologna defender Takehiro Tomiyasu.
According to Tuesday’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport [p27; 13/07], Tottenham have reached a €20m (£17m) deal with the Serie A side for the versatile defensive youngster.
The north London side have been pursuing the centre-back for some time. However, it now appears that Nuno Espirito Santo has got his man.

Tomiyasu could become the Portuguese manager’s first signing with the club. Nuno was appointed as Jose Mourinho’s successor at Spurs earlier in the month.
The Japanese star is capable at playing at both centre-back and right-back. Tomiyasu has won plenty of plaudits over the course of last season for his physicality and determination to take on attackers.
Moreover, some Tottenham fans on social media are happy with the news surrounding the versatile defender.

Indeed, with Tottenham eager to improve on their defence this summer, Tomiyasu will be a welcomed addition to the squad.
