Arsenal maintained their place at the top of the Premier League on Sunday with a fantastic win over Nottingham Forest.

The Gunners ran out 5-0 winners against the newly promoted side in a dominant display.

Speaking on the Kelly & Wrighty show, Karen Carney was discussing one of the key events from the match.

Reiss Nelson scored a wonderful brace at the start of the second-half to put the result beyond doubt.

However, his introduction in the first half was a cause for concern for Arsenal and England fans.

Bukayo Saka limped off the pitch after sustaining a heavy challenge in the opening minutes.

The 21-year-old still managed to deliver an assist for Gabriel Martinelli before being substituted, but was clearly in some discomfort.

Carney has now said what she said Arsenal players doing after Saka’s injury.

The winger has been one of Arteta’s key players this season, and any long-term layoff would have been a disaster for Arsenal.

However, Arteta has said that Saka is ‘hopefully not’ a doubt for the World Cup after his most recent knock.

What Arsenal players did after Saka’s injury on Sunday

When talking about Saka’s injury, Carney said: “Do you know what it was, when he was coming off injured, did you see how many of the Arsenal players went up to him like ‘are you alright?’.

“It was like you’re our star player, that’s a big sign for him when so many go over and ask if he’s already. It’s just telling.”

Arteta will be glad there’s very little riding on Arsenal’s midweek match against FC Zurich on Thursday.

It allows him to rest Saka until their important clash against Chelsea at the weekend.

Ian Wright said that Saka was absolutely fuming on Sunday after picking up that injury.

Only Gabriel Jesus has been fouled more than Saka for Arsenal this season, and he’s had to ride plenty of big challenges.

The timing of Saka’s knock ahead of the World Cup will certainly be worrying Gareth Southgate.

The reaction of the Arsenal’s players after Saka’s injury shows they know he wasn’t in brilliant shape.

It also shows just how important the young winger is to their brilliant start to this season.
