Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher praised Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale during the Gunners’ Premier League meeting with Crystal Palace.
Mikel Arteta’s charges and Patrick Vieira’s side kicked off the 2022-23 campaign at Selhurst Park.
Arsenal scored the first goal of the new Premier League season as Gabriel Martinelli netted in the 20th minute.

The 20-year-old missed a great chance earlier on, but made amends with his close-range header at the back post.
Martinelli slammed home after Oleksandr Zinchenko nodded the ball into his path from a corner.
But in the 54th minute, Palace had a superb opportunity to equalise.
Wilfried Zaha slid the ball in behind Martin Odegaard for Eberechi Eze, who found himself one-on-one with Ramsdale.
The Palace ace tried to open his body up and bend the ball past the £30million Arsenal stopper.
However, Ramsdale was quick off his line and made a vital block.
“What a chance for Eze,” Carragher said on Sky Sports – as transcribed by BBC Sport – after the Arsenal man’s stop.
“That was brilliant goalkeeping – Ramsdale was out in a flash.
“White made a poor decision on the far side and it was a brilliantly threaded through-ball from Zaha as Odegaard found himself in the full-back position.”
Arsenal ran out 2-0 winners in the end, Bukayo Saka forcing an own goal from Marc Guehi six minutes from time.
Ramsdale enjoyed a superb maiden season at Arsenal after joining from Sheffield United last summer.
He quickly dethroned Bernd Leno as the Gunners’ first-choice stopper, and now wears the No. 1 jersey.
Ramsdale made 37 appearances for Mikel Arteta’s side last season, keeping 14 clean sheets.
