With the Premier League having been postponed until early April at the earliest, Aston Villa have made a kind gesture in wake of their game with Chelsea being called off.

Dean Smith’s charges were originally set to host Frank Lampard’s side at Villa Park in Saturday’s late kickoff before the league, as well as the EFL and WSL, made the decision to halt proceedings.

Villa, however, made sure that the food prepared for the game would not go to waste.

The club put out a message on Twitter saying they were happy to donate the food to homeless charities and asking them to get in touch if they wanted to come and collect.

Later on, they confirmed that all of the food was allocated to a number of homeless charities and housing shelters, thanking their Twitter followers for ensuring that it wouldn’t go to waste in wake of the postponement.

With plenty of positive feedback coming their way:

Several other clubs have also followed suit, with Brighton & Hove Albion and Watford doing the same.

Earlier on Friday, the Premier League, FA, EFL and WSL collectively agreed to postpone the professional game in England with the intention of returning on 3 April, subject to medical advice and conditions at the time.
