A number of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to welcome the news that Nathaniel Phillips should be fine for this weekend’s Premier League encounter.
The Reds are in dire straits at present, having lost their last five Premier League home games, with the 1-0 loss to Chelsea their seventh defeat in their last 13 league games.
In addition, Liverpool’s lengthy injury list now has another player, with Jurgen Klopp confirming in Friday’s press conference that Ozan Kabak has a “little problem”.
The January signing joins the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and Jordan Henderson on the sidelines.
However, Klopp has also confirmed that Phillips is expected to be available for Sunday’s game with Fulham after missing out against Chelsea with a minor problem.
Ben Davies should also be in contention for the Anfield clash against the Premier League relegation battlers.
“Nat I think will be ready, Ben as well,” Klopp is quoted by the Liverpool Echo as saying.
“For Ben, it’s not easy. In our situation, we brought him in and he has to adapt, all these kind of things.
“He is a really good player, but we just have to try to make sure that the people who play with each other.
If you bring one new player and then a second new player, it changes everything. We have to see.
“The game could come too quick for Ozan but Nat should be ready and Ben anyway.”
Here is what some Liverpool fans on social media have made of Phillips’ potential return:
Currently our best CB , get Davies next to him with Fab in front offering protection , with Robbo & Trent more focused on defensive side , like Tuchel has done with his defenders at Chelsea . . .
