Ten-assist midfielder having medical with Man Utd, says journalist
According to ESPN journalist José Elias, Hoffenheim midfielder Roberto Firmino is reportedly having a medical with Manchester United over an €18 million move this summer. The Brazilian will become Louis van Gaal’s second summer signing following the announcement of Memphis Depay’s move.
The 23-year-old has been a stand-out performers in the Bundesliga for some time now, with his impressive displays attracting the attention of a number of top clubs, including the Red Devils. If latest reports are deemed true, he is close to sealing a switch to the Premier League giants.
As per Squawka.com, no player has over the past two seasons has been directly involved in more Bundesliga goals (scored & assisted) than Roberto Firmino (44). Last term alone, the Brazilian recorded seven goals and ten assists, in 33 appearances, as Hoffenheim achieved an 8th place finish.
The Brazilian will be in action over the summer months, as his nation look to emerge victorious in the Copa America. The upcoming competition in Chile will provide the Old Trafford faithful with the perfect opportunity to see what the 23-year-old is all about. Despite only having six international caps, he has already scored three goals at this level.
