'Tell me this is a lie': Some Arsenal fans fume as club suffer blow in selling £100k-a-week player
Arsenal have suffered a blow in their attempt to sell Granit Xhaka to AS Roma this summer.
According to il Tempo via the Express, negotiations between the two clubs over the Swiss international have come to an end.
Indeed, Roma have been in talks with Arsenal over a deal for Xhaka for most of the summer.
Moreover, reported by Fabrizio Romano, the Serie A side have agreed personal terms with Xhaka. However, Roma are yet to reach Arsenal’s matching price for the midfielder.
The Arsenal midfielder, who earns £100,000-a-week according to Spotrac, is a player Mikel Arteta is eager to sell this summer. Albert Sambi Lokonga has already been signed to replace the 28-year-old maestro.
However, this update was met with fierce backlash from Arsenal fans on social media.
Supporters are keen to see Xhaka move on this window, and this news was a huge blow to this transfer actually happening.

As well as Sambi, Arsenal have also signed Nuno Tavares. Ben White is also close to joining in a £50m deal.
