‘Tell Arteta to play this wonderkid’: Some Arsenal fans react as 20-year-old gem pictured in training

A number of Arsenal fans have urged Gunners boss Mikel Arteta to give Emile Smith Rowe more game time after the young midfielder was featured in a post on the club’s Twitter account.

The 20-year-old is considered one of the best young talents at the Emirates Stadium and made six appearances for the Gunners across the Europa League, League Cup and Premier League last season.

In January, Smith Rowe joined Huddersfield on loan until the end of the season and enjoyed a fruitful spell at the John Smith’s Stadium, making 18 Championship appearances and claiming two goals and three assists.

His efforts helped the Terriers survive the drop, ultimately finishing three points clear of the bottom three, with the victory over West Brom in the penultimate game – in which he netted a late winner – especially crucial.

Although Smith Rowe is yet to feature for Arsenal’s first team this season, him not being sent out on loan suggests the Gunners are thinking of giving him minutes this term.

Being pictured and name-checked by the account in training certainly shows he’s in the club’s thoughts and potentially in consideration for game time.
